Supervisors

Supervisors are accredited by ASACPEV to provide professional supervision for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students. Supervisors guide students through the learning process and assess their development in spiritual/pastoral practice.

ASACPEV Supervisors may also be approved as sole traders to provide supervision for those engaged in spiritual/pastoral care practice outside the CPE framework.

Levels of Supervisors

There are three levels of accredited supervisors.

Level 1

A Clinical Pastoral Supervisor provides individual supervision for candidates undertaking CPE within a CPE unit, coordinated either by the CPE Centre Director or a delegated Course Coordinator.

Level 2

A Clinical Pastoral Educator is authorised to conduct, and may serve as the Centre Director of, an independently registered CPE program. Educators uphold the Association's standards and collaborate with their supervisory colleagues in a spirit of dialogue and fellowship.

Level 3

A Clinical Pastoral Education Consultant is authorised to educate pastoral practitioners, oversee the education of Supervisor Practitioners, and conduct an independently registered CPE program. Consultants maintain the Standards of the Association and work in dialogue and fellowship with their supervisory colleagues.

ASACPEV-accredited Supervisors meet rigorous professional standards and are required to maintain professional development, adhere to ethical practice, and uphold the Standards of ASACPEV.
