Rev. David Stark Appreciation
Over approximately 30 years, David has contributed significantly to the life of ASPEA and the wider networks of pastoral care and supervision. First appointed by the Methodist Church as Chaplain to Larundel Hospital, David was the first Chaplain to hold an Inter Church Chaplaincy position. David later served as Head of Pastoral Care at Peter MacCallum Hospital, and later as Director of Pastoral Care and Education at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.
Up until 1997, David served for twenty-five years on the Inter Church Chaplaincy Committee of Victoria, holding positions of President and Secretary.
At his retirement in that year the following tribute was signed and presented to David by the Minister of Health, Mr Rob Knowles:
On the occasion of the celebration of 30 years of clinical Pastoral Education at the Austin Hospital, the Victorian department of Human services wishes to acknowledge the outstanding and formative contribution at State, National and International levels of the Reverend David Stark.
The Department celebrates his ministry of Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, Supervision and administration over a continuous twenty-two year period in Health Department Institutions at Larundel Psychiatric Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, Repatriation Campus of the Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre. The Victorian Department of Human Services, on behalf of patients, staff and students pays tribute to the rich gifts he has given to the Public and the Church in the field of pastoral care, education and administration.
ASPEA pays tribute to the gifts of administration, formation, development and education of supervisors that David has given to the church and wider community over a long period of time. Our warm wishes accompany him.
